FAQ
What is Thermolock?
Thanks to the natural mineral structure it contains—perlite, volcanic rock (pumice), and vermiculite—Thermolock provides thermal, waterproof, sound, fire, and UV insulation. It is a lightweight composite plaster and cement-based coating that delivers all the mentioned types of insulation while also offering various decorative options. The product comes in the form of granular powder packed in kraft bags, is prepared solely by mixing with water, and is easy to apply.
Where is Thermolock used?
It is used for insulating all types of architectural geometric surfaces, whether oval or flat, in all kinds of old or new houses and buildings, on exterior and interior surfaces, coatings that require any type of insulation, industrial facilities, structures that require high fire safety (A1 – (TSE-ASTM-GOST …F 240 EFECTIS)), as well as food production plants.
On which materials can Thermolock be applied?
It is mainly applied to brick, aerated concrete, exposed concrete, pumice block surfaces, as well as on old buildings using grooves and primer. It can also be applied to surfaces made of panels, wood, metal, and similar materials, using various methods and a transitional primer.
In what climatic conditions can Thermolock be used?
It is suitable for use in all climatic and geographic conditions. It is a coating that is extremely resistant to high or low temperatures and moisture.
How is Thermolock applied?
It is easily applied by spraying, trowel, or plastering machines. Similar to coarse and fine traditional plaster application, the volume is first built up, and then a finishing layer creates a decorative surface.
Which quality certificates does Thermolock have, and is it an officially recognized product?
Thermolock holds more than sufficient national and international quality certificates. Among them are notable certifications such as TÜV, UTO, CE, ASTM, TSE, GOST, ISO, FAS, and LEED. In this regard, Thermolock is registered and recognized as an insulation product both in our country and virtually worldwide.
How thick a layer of Thermolock should be applied?
Thermolock products serve the global market. For this reason, it offers different product options ranging from 200 kg/m³ to 600 kg/m³, specifically formulated for various regions with different priorities. Application is determined by layer thickness based on calculations that consider geographic and climatic conditions and the required U-value. For example, in warm climates, a layer of 1.5 to 2 cm may be sufficient, while in cold climates, a thickness of 4 cm or more is required.
Is Thermolock expensive
No. Thermolock easily meets the needs for plastering, leveling, insulation, and decoration of structures with a single product and a single work process. Considering all these factors, it is incomparably more economical than its alternatives.
How much load does Thermolock place on our building?
The products are 5–6 times lighter than traditional plaster or screed systems. Their specific weight ranges from 200 to 600 kg/m³, depending on the product type. In this way, Thermolock places significantly less load on buildings compared to all types of traditional insulation and leveling systems, acting as structural relief for the building. It also provides corrosion protection, as it is air-permeable and waterproof.
How long does Thermolock last?
The products are made from natural minerals that provide insulation. Thanks to their strong water resistance, they do not absorb water and are therefore not susceptible to freeze damage at subzero temperatures. With their high diffusion capacity, they also allow moisture to escape from the environment. They exhibit excellent resistance to UV rays that cause aging, especially on exterior facades. Solar test values conducted in U.S. laboratories registered at 99%. Considering these parameters, Thermolock continues to provide protection and insulation thanks to its special, polymer-reinforced, hard, and durable structure throughout a lifespan equal to that of the building.
Is Thermolock harmful to the environment?
The products, which primarily consist of natural minerals even used in soilless agriculture in the food sector, are extremely environmentally friendly and easily recyclable. Our greatest pride is that we hold the international LEED certification for green products.
